“At a time when the Amazons are back in the limelight, I think it is also important to revive works written by women composers that clearly had an impact at the time of their creation.
Until recently, we only had the piano-vocal version of Louise Bertin’s opera Fausto. The rediscovery of the original orchestral score enables us to revive a work that had not only been forgotten, but had quite simply been lost. This is a major musicological discovery and one I feel very excited about! And the fact that it was written by a woman makes its revival even more special!
Who better to accompany me in this adventure than Karine Deshayes and Karina Gauvin, wonderful artists with whom I am used to working in a spirit of mutual trust!”
